Key Responsibilities of the Role
The General Assistant Trolleys will report to the Charge Hand Trolleys and be responsible for a wide range of tasks that are critical to the smooth functioning of airport operations. Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Indicating Unserviceable Equipment
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and reporting unserviceable equipment to the relevant stakeholders. This is crucial in preventing disruptions in the daily operations of the airport. - Day-to-Day Deployment of Equipment
A significant part of the role is ensuring that the equipment is deployed efficiently and on time. This ensures that the various departments and operations at the airport function seamlessly. - Safeguarding of Assets
Safeguarding airport assets, including trolleys and other essential equipment, is another key aspect of this role. The general assistant must ensure that the equipment is well-maintained and properly stored to avoid damage or theft. - Adherence to Statutory/Legislative Regulations
The successful candidate will need to adhere to relevant statutory and legislative regulations, as well as operational standards, policies, and practices. This ensures that ACSA complies with all necessary legal frameworks and maintains high operational standards. - Risk Mitigation
The General Assistant Trolleys will be responsible for identifying potential risks in the work environment and implementing measures to mitigate those risks. This will help reduce injuries and maintain a safe working environment for all staff and passengers. - Operational Constraints and Reporting
Regular reporting on operational constraints is another key responsibility. The candidate will be expected to compile and submit reports detailing any operational challenges or constraints and suggest possible solutions. - Monitoring Trolley Stock Levels
The candidate will also monitor trolley stock levels and be responsible for ensuring there is an adequate supply. This includes counting trolleys and reporting any discrepancies or shortages. - Liaising with Internal Stakeholders
Efficient communication with internal stakeholders is vital to ensure that airport operations are running efficiently. The General Assistant Trolleys will engage with different departments to address any operational needs and ensure resources are being utilized effectively. - Customer Engagement
While primarily focused on operations, the successful candidate may also be required to assist and engage with customers when necessary, providing excellent customer service in line with ACSA’s standards. - Resource Planning
The candidate will be responsible for planning resources in terms of demand and supply, ensuring that airport operations are adequately resourced at all times.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet certain technical requirements and possess the right qualifications:
- Educational Qualifications: The minimum qualification for this role is a Grade 12 (G12) certificate. This ensures that the candidate has a basic level of education and understanding required for the role.
- Licenses: A valid Code B motor vehicle licence is advantageous, though not mandatory. This would support the candidate in handling vehicles or equipment that might be necessary in the course of their duties.
