Internship Overview

The Podcast Production Internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in the planning, recording, editing, and publishing of podcast content. The successful candidate will join the digital media team at the Braamfontein campus and contribute to the production of educational and promotional audio material.

Key Responsibilities

The Podcast Production Intern will be expected to:

  • Assist in planning podcast episodes, including research and guest coordination
  • Support both in-studio and remote audio recordings
  • Edit audio content for clarity and quality, including noise reduction, mixing, and leveling
  • Add intros, outros, background music, and audio transitions
  • Draft show notes, episode descriptions, and suitable titles for each release
  • Manage episode publishing on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts
  • Stay informed about podcast industry trends, topics, and tools
  • Assist in basic digital promotion of podcast episodes (where relevant)

Minimum Requirements

Candidates applying for this Podcast Production Internship should meet the following criteria:

  • A completed qualification in Media Studies, Audio Engineering, Digital Media, or a related field
  • Demonstrated interest in podcasting, audio storytelling, or multimedia content
  • Basic experience with audio editing software (e.g. Audacity, Adobe Audition, GarageBand, or Descript)
  • Effective time management and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
