Key Responsibilities

As a Research Assistant, you will play an essential role in the day-to-day activities of the project, with a strong focus on crop protection for citrus plants. The key responsibilities include:

  1. Research Support: Assist research personnel in completing research projects successfully, ensuring that all activities are carried out according to the project’s objectives and timelines.
  2. Administrative Assistance: Provide administrative support for technicians and researchers to ensure that all logistical requirements are met, and the team can function efficiently.

  4. Citrus Plant Maintenance: Take care of citrus plants in glasshouses and tunnels, ensuring that the plants are healthy and maintained in optimal conditions.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Research Assistant position at the ARC must meet the following qualifications and requirements:

  1. Minimum Education: A Grade 12/Senior Certificate/Matric is required to apply for this role.
  2. Experience: At least two years of experience working in a nursery or fruit farming environment is essential. Experience in citrus propagation techniques will be considered an added advantage.
  3. Physical Fitness: The position requires someone who is physically fit, capable of working under extreme weather conditions, and able to lift heavy equipment.
  4. Work Independently and in Teams: You must be capable of working independently as well as being part of a team.
