With applications now open from April 8 to May 18, 2025, Sasol invites talented, aspiring engineers and scientists to apply for its comprehensive bursary offerings.

This initiative, designed to support full-time university studies in various fields of engineering and science, provides students not only with financial support but also with developmental guidance throughout their academic journey.

Who Should Apply?

The Sasol Mainstream Bursary Programme is targeted at South African students who are passionate about advancing their studies in fields related to engineering, science, and data science. Importantly, Sasol does not accept applicants who are studying Technical Mathematics or Math Literacy, so applicants should have a solid foundation in core mathematics.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Sasol Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. South African Citizenship: Only South African citizens may apply for the bursary.
  2. Full-Time University Study: Applicants must be enrolled full-time at a recognised and accredited South African university. Distance learning institutions, such as UNISA, will not be considered.
  3. Degree-Specific Criteria: Only standard degree courses will be considered, and applicants must ensure that they apply with the correct academic qualifications. Dual or combined degree courses, such as B.Sc. Chemistry with Chemical Engineering or B.Eng. Mechatronics, are not eligible.
  4. One Application Per Student: Each student may submit only one application per year, and providing incorrect or misleading information during the application process can result in disqualification.
  5. Performance-Based Selection: Selection for interviews and bursary awards will be competitive, based on academic merit and alignment with Sasol’s business requirements.

Application Process

The application process for the Sasol Mainstream Bursary Programme is simple, but applicants must ensure that all required documentation is submitted before the deadline.

  1. Submission via Sasol’s Official Bursary Website: All applications must be submitted via the Sasol bursary website before the close of business on May 18, 2025. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered, and applications sent via email or other channels will also be disregarded.
  2. Academic Information: Students should apply using their most recent academic results (for example, Grade 11 results for current matriculants). Conditional offers may be made based on these results, with the final offer depending on the student’s matric (Grade 12) results.
  3. Document Verification: It is important that applicants provide accurate information. If Sasol discovers that false information was submitted during the application or selection process, the application will be voided immediately.
