Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Hospitality Trainees posts, applicants must:
- Hold an N6 Hospitality Certificate (with academic record/ transcript).
- Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills.
- Be able to work effectively in a busy kitchen and training environment.
- Have basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) (advantageous).
Duties & Responsibilities
As one of the appointed Hospitality Trainees, you will work alongside lecturers, staff, and students to gain hands-on experience in:
Ordering & Stock Control
- Compiling and placing orders.
- Conducting stock taking of food and equipment.
- Managing stock keeping and issuing ingredients.
Food Preparation & Menu Planning
- Assisting with nutrition and menu planning.
- Cooking meals for the crèche.
- Supporting lecturers during class demonstrations.
Administration & Compliance
- Liaising with suppliers and generating quotations.
- Keeping MSDS in the kitchen updated.
- Ensuring OHS compliance in kitchen administration.
Events & Student Support
- Assisting with or planning college functions.
- Supervising students during restaurant days and special events.
These responsibilities give Hospitality Trainees a well-rounded introduction to both the operational and training aspects of the hospitality industry.
