Minimum Requirements

The ideal candidate must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the General Assistant role:

  1. Education: Grade 10
  2. Experience: At least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in a general worker or related field.
  3. Physical Ability: The candidate must be physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
  4. Skills and Attributes:
    • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
    • Ability to perform physical labor and handle heavy items.

Key Performance Areas

General Assistants at Northlink TVET College will perform a range of duties. Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and Housekeeping:
    • Assist the Foreman with all maintenance-related tasks.
    • Sweep and clean grounds, lawns, passages, parking areas, and courtyards.
    • Clean areas surrounding bins and skips.
  • Store Keeping and Utility Functions:
    • Help with store-keeping tasks such as counting stock, packing, and cleaning stock in storage areas.
    • Assist with various utility functions like moving furniture and other items.
  • Office and Facility Cleaning:
    • Dust and wax office furniture.
    • Sweep, scrub, and wax floors.
    • Vacuum and shampoo carpets.
    • Clean walls, windows, and floors, ensuring a clean and presentable environment.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Empty and clean dirt bins.
    • Collect and remove waste papers.
    • Freshen office areas.
    • Assist with maintaining kitchen cleanliness by washing and keeping stock of utensils, refilling hand wash liquid soap, and replacing toilet papers.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Be prepared to work overtime when necessary.
    • Fulfill any reasonable request by the Campus Manager, Administrative Supervisor, or Foreman.
