About the ICT Support Job
As an ICT Support professional at Rosebank College, your primary responsibility will be to respond to and resolve incidents related to applications and equipment used across the campus. You’ll provide desktop support, assist with hardware and software installations, and help users make effective use of systems and equipment.

ICT Support Job Purpose
The ICT Support role is designed to ensure that technical incidents are promptly identified, analyzed, and resolved, enabling staff and students to continue with their work or learning without disruptions. Your job will include addressing problems, troubleshooting issues, and escalating unresolved problems to senior staff when necessary.
You will also assist with installations, repairs, and provide administrative support for the institution’s information technology infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Desktop Support:
- Handle requests for assistance from users needing help with software or hardware issues.
- Prioritize and resolve user problems, including logging, tracking, and updating requests in the incident management system.
- Investigate, identify, and resolve routine technical issues, while escalating complex problems to the Senior ICT Support team.
- Software and Hardware Installations:
- Install desktop and laptop computers, ensuring that all necessary software is installed and correctly set up for campus use.
- Install and set up peripheral equipment, including monitors, printers, keyboards, and disk drives.
- Conduct regular testing of video conferencing and other IT equipment to ensure everything is working smoothly.
- Assist in setting up equipment for boardrooms and training sessions.
- Information Technology Administrative Functions:
- Work with service providers on equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Keep an updated register of IT hardware and software, including asset disposal management.
- Administer the software licensing and manage the IT store room, ensuring that it is tidy, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Provide training and orientation to staff on how to use new hardware and software.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role is someone with a passion for technology and a drive to ensure smooth operations for all users.

Required Education and Qualifications:
- Higher Certificate / Occupational Certificate Level 5 (NQF Level 5), or certifications such as A+ and N+.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required for the position.
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced Certificate / Diploma / Occupational Certificate Level 6 (NQF Level 6), such as CCNA1, MCSE, or MCTIP.
Work Experience:
- Completed Internship or at least 6 months of on-the-job experience in ICT support.

- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
