Ideal for recent diploma or degree earners (Graphic Design, NQF Level 6 or higher), this internship will offer practical exposure in the museum environment—and a monthly stipend of R9 000.
Graphic Designer Internship Overview

Key Responsibilities
The intern will have the chance to contribute in multiple areas of the Gallery’s operations. These include, but are not limited to:
1. Graphic Design
- Design posters, exhibition graphics, program brochures, and social media visuals.
- Create layouts for WHAG publications, including newsletters and educational materials.
- Develop consistent branding for exhibitions, workshops, and community events.
- Ensure high visual quality and brand alignment in all communication materials.
2. Visual Content and Digital Media
- Assist in managing WHAG’s online content by producing engaging visuals.
- Contribute to website updates and digital exhibition platforms.
- Work with photography and basic video editing (where required).
3. Curatorial Support
- Collaborate on exhibition design concepts and presentation layouts.
- Assist with signage, wall texts, and other visual elements of exhibitions.
- Participate in conceptual discussions with the curatorial team.
4. Administrative and Project Tasks
- Organise digital and print files efficiently.
- Support in planning and implementing gallery events and educational programs.
- Manage design timelines and deliverables in collaboration with team members.
5. Community and Education Projects
- Create visual resources to support art education workshops and outreach sessions.
- Help design lesson plans, learning aids, and mobile exhibitions used in schools.
Minimum Requirements
The internship is ideal for enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:
- A completed degree or diploma in Graphic Design (NQF Level 6 or higher).
- Excellent communication skills in English. Proficiency in Afrikaans and/or Tswana will be advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Strong portfolio showcasing creative and original design work.
