Duties and Responsibilities
As an Intern: Workshop Assistant at Media Film Service, you will be responsible for the following key duties:
1. Repairs and Maintenance:
- Assist with basic repairs and maintenance of generators, trucks, and vehicles under supervision.
- Support the setup and preparation of load testing on generators using the load bank.
- Learn and follow workshop protocols and service requirements during maintenance tasks.
- Work alongside the Electro Mechanic to maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
- Observe and assist in checking generator operator checklists, ensuring everything is in order.
2. Ad Hoc Assistance:
- Help with the dispatching and receiving of equipment when required.
- Assist with general workshop support, such as organising tools, equipment, and materials.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and well-organised workshop environment, adhering to good housekeeping practices.
3. Team Collaboration and Stakeholder Relationships:
- Build strong interpersonal relationships with team members and stakeholders to ensure a stable and effective working environment.
- Support team objectives, contributing to the overall success of the workshop.
Requirements
To succeed in this internship, you must demonstrate the following qualities and meet certain requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) – Essential for eligibility.
- Diploma in Engineering / Mechanics / Diesel Mechanics (NQF Level 6) – Essential.
Key Competencies:
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Intermediate English language proficiency.
- Accuracy & Attention to Detail – Strong attention to detail is essential in this technical role.
