Duties and Responsibilities

As an Intern: Workshop Assistant at Media Film Service, you will be responsible for the following key duties:

1. Repairs and Maintenance:

  • Assist with basic repairs and maintenance of generators, trucks, and vehicles under supervision.
  • Support the setup and preparation of load testing on generators using the load bank.
  • Learn and follow workshop protocols and service requirements during maintenance tasks.
  • Work alongside the Electro Mechanic to maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
  • Observe and assist in checking generator operator checklists, ensuring everything is in order.

2. Ad Hoc Assistance:

  • Help with the dispatching and receiving of equipment when required.
  • Assist with general workshop support, such as organising tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and well-organised workshop environment, adhering to good housekeeping practices.

3. Team Collaboration and Stakeholder Relationships:

  • Build strong interpersonal relationships with team members and stakeholders to ensure a stable and effective working environment.
  • Support team objectives, contributing to the overall success of the workshop.

Requirements

To succeed in this internship, you must demonstrate the following qualities and meet certain requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4)Essential for eligibility.
  • Diploma in Engineering / Mechanics / Diesel Mechanics (NQF Level 6)Essential.

Key Competencies:

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Intermediate English language proficiency.
  • Accuracy & Attention to Detail – Strong attention to detail is essential in this technical role.
  • Continuous Learning – A willingness to learn and grow in the field of mechanics and engineering.
  • Adaptability – Ability to adjust to new tasks and working conditions.
  • Team Collaboration – A focus on contributing to team success and working well with others.
