The first opportunity available is for two Cleaners who will be based in the Skills Department. This position offers a 12-month contract and a salary of R138,486 per annum.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Cleaner at Thekwini TVET College, your duties will include:
- Cleaning offices, corridors, elevators, and boardrooms.
- Sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing floors.
- Vacuuming and shampooing floors.
- Cleaning walls, windows, and floors.
- Emptying and cleaning dirt bins.
- Collecting and removing waste papers.
- Ensuring the office areas remain fresh and clean.
- Maintaining general hygiene and a safe environment.
- Cleaning kitchens, including washing basins, keeping kitchen utensils in order, and maintaining stock.
- Cleaning the restrooms, including refilling hand wash liquid soap and replacing toilet paper and hand towels.
- Reporting broken cleaning equipment and maintaining equipment.
- Performing tea-making and washing dishes.
- Furniture arrangement and removal.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 10 (STD 8) certificate or school report.
- A minimum of six months of experience in an office environment is advantageous.
- Ability to perform routine cleaning tasks and maintain a hygienic environment.
- Basic communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Knowledge of operating cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Groundsman, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining grounds and repairing tools and structures such as buildings, fences, and benches.
- Mixing and applying fertilizer, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees.
- Maintaining sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other ground features.
- Caring for sod, plants, and trees on the campus.
- Sweeping parking lots, walkways, and other areas.
- Raking, mulching leaves, and irrigating plants and lawns.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 10 (STD 8) certificate or school report.
- A minimum of six months of experience working in a garden.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of gardening equipment and appliances.
- Knowledge of lawn care processes and tree pruning techniques.
- Understanding of government legislation and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals and other gardening products.
