Key Responsibilities of a Cafeteria Assistant
As a Cafeteria Assistant at Curro St. Dominic’s, your responsibilities will include:
1. Food Preparation and Sales
- Food Preparation: You will assist in the preparation of food items, which may include cooked or warm foods. Ensuring that all food is prepared to a high standard will be one of your core responsibilities.
- Sales Operations: Prepare and sell food and related products to learners, parents, and staff, ensuring correct pricing and money collection. You will play an active role in managing the sales process, handling transactions with care and ensuring accurate change is given.
- Customer Service: As an ambassador of Curro St. Dominic’s, you will be expected to provide excellent customer service to all learners, staff, and visitors. Ensuring a pleasant experience at the cafeteria will be central to your role.
2. Cleaning, Health & Safety
- Workspace Cleanliness: You will be responsible for ensuring that your work areas are kept clean and tidy. This will include cleaning equipment and the cafeteria area to maintain hygiene standards.
- Health & Safety Compliance: You will be expected to adhere to all hygiene and safety guidelines, ensuring that food preparation and serving areas comply with health regulations. This includes wearing appropriate attire for handling food and participating in routine cleaning.
3. Support and Collaboration
- Team Support: You will assist the Cafeteria Supervisor, cook, or chef when needed, offering support in food preparation and other tasks.
- Event Assistance: From time to time, you may be asked to support special events that require additional cafeteria services.
Requirements
Curro St. Dominic’s is looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Education: A minimum of Matric (Grade 12) is required.
- Experience: At least one year of experience as a Cafeteria or Tuck Shop Assistant. Previous experience in the hospitality industry is highly preferred.
- Skills: Excellent customer service skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong attention to detail when handling food and money.
