Purpose of the Job
Impala Platinum is focused on the development of young talent within the mining and metallurgical sectors. The purpose of this graduate internship is to provide a platform for Chemical Engineering graduates to gain relevant work experience that will enhance their understanding of the PGM industry.
The intern will also contribute to operational areas by providing technical, engineering, and management support throughout a rotational work experience. This structure ensures that the intern is exposed to various operational sectors, gaining a well-rounded understanding of the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Internship Program: The 24-month training program is aimed at enhancing general knowledge of the PGM industry. During this period, interns will gain exposure to technical, safety, and managerial aspects of engineering within a production environment.
- Training and Development: Interns will attend required courses and training sessions as part of the development process, which will help build necessary skills and expertise.
- Technical Support: Interns will provide technical assistance to operational areas, helping Impala Platinum meet its business plan and operational targets. This is an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
- Reporting: As part of the internship, successful candidates will be required to submit regular reports in line with training and development requirements.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: An NQF Level 7 qualification in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.
- Technical Knowledge: A deep understanding of Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical principles is essential for this role.
- Physical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit to work across different operations, including Concentrator Operations, Smelting Operations, PMR, and BMR.
- Passion for the Industry: A genuine interest in the PGM industry and a desire to learn and contribute to the business is crucial for success in this role.
