Job Responsibilities

As a Transport Driver at UCT, you will be responsible for the following key duties:

1. Driving Responsibilities:
   • Safely transport UCT students, staff, and visitors between UCT campuses and residences.
   • Follow a set schedule (as per the waybill system) to ensure that transport is provided efficiently.
2. Defensive Driving:
   • Apply defensive driving techniques to minimize risks on the road and ensure passenger safety.
3. Vehicle Maintenance:
   • Ensure that the vehicles are kept in a clean, tidy, and roadworthy condition at all times.
   • Regularly inspect the vehicle to ensure it meets all safety standards.
4. Compliance:
   • Ensure compliance with the National Road Traffic Agency regulations.
   • Report any incidents or emergencies promptly to ensure the safety and smooth operation of shuttle services.
5. Customer Service:
   • Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and other passengers, addressing any concerns or needs they may have.
6. Emergency Situations:
   • Respond to and attend to emergency situations in a calm and efficient manner, ensuring minimal disruption to shuttle operations.
7. Other Duties:
   • Perform other duties related to transport services that may be assigned by the Operations Manager.

Benefits and Salary

The annual cost to the university, including benefits, for the Transport Driver Vacancies at the University of Cape Town ranges between R244,979 and R288,206.
