Key Responsibilities

The main duties of a Security Officer at SANEDI include:

  1. Facility Security: Ensuring the safety and security of SANEDI’s premises, both for staff and visitors.
  2. Crisis Response: Acting as a visible deterrent to potential threats, monitoring suspicious activities, and providing rapid responses in emergency situations.
  3. Driving Services: Offering transportation services as needed, ensuring that all areas are secure and clear of any disturbances.
  4. Visitor Management: Verifying the identity of employees and visitors and ensuring that proper security measures are followed, including the use of visitor permits.
  5. Incident Reporting: Generating reports of any incidents or security concerns, ensuring that any escalating issues are properly managed and communicated.

Security Officers are also expected to patrol the building and monitor all access points. Ensuring that all doors, windows, and ventilation areas are secure is a key part of the role, as well as responding promptly to any alarms or disturbances to maintain safety at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for the Security Officer Vacancies at SANEDI, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Grade C or B PSIRA Certification with an accredited firearm license.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the security industry.
  • A valid Code B driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Basic computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Preferably, candidates with Safety or Emergency Response Training.
  • Clean criminal record and willingness to undergo regular criminal checks.

Additional knowledge required includes PSIRA regulations, road rules, and the ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms. The ability to work under pressure, adaptability, and resilience are essential competencies.
