Key Responsibilities

As part of this WIL placement, the selected candidate will:

  • Participate in on-site civil engineering projects, gaining practical knowledge and technical experience in construction management and project execution.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and site managers to implement best practices in construction safety and project efficiency.
  • Take on varied tasks related to the civil engineering discipline, including site inspections, project documentation, and assisting in quality control.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, enhancing interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Learn how to adapt to the dynamic nature of construction projects and manage challenges that arise on-site.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a National Diploma in Civil Engineering (ND: Civil Engineering).
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities and a willingness to contribute proactively to team efforts.
  • Flexibility in working hours, as construction projects may require working outside of regular office hours.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, to ensure clear communication on-site and in reports.
  • South African citizenship.

Added Advantages

While not essential, the following qualifications will give applicants an edge in the selection process:

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license, as this may be required for site visits and other work-related travel.
  • Any previous exposure to construction or civil engineering projects, either through academic projects or internships.
