About the Role

The Bacteriology Internship Program at the ARC will immerse you in the heart of research that aims to understand bacterial agents affecting animal health. As an intern, you will work alongside top-tier researchers and contribute to essential projects in animal health, microbiology, and disease prevention. The internship offers a mix of laboratory and fieldwork, ensuring that you will gain well-rounded experience in the field of bacteriology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sample Collection and Preparation: Collect samples from abattoirs and receive them in the laboratory for cataloguing.
  • Test Preparation: Assist in the preparation of test reagents for various microbiological assays.
  • Conduct Assays: Perform microbiological, serological, and molecular assays to detect and identify bacterial agents, utilizing well-established procedures.
  • Data Management: Keep precise records of samples, tests, and outcomes, and generate reports on assignments.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: A BSc Honours degree in Microbiology, Animal Health, or a related field.
