The PG Bison Apprenticeship Programme offers training in the following trades:
- Millwrights
Millwrights are multi-skilled artisans trained in both electrical and mechanical work. They install, maintain, and repair machinery, ensuring plant equipment runs smoothly and efficiently. - Boilermakers
Boilermakers specialise in working with steel to construct, assemble, and maintain boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels. This trade is essential for building and maintaining heavy-duty industrial structures. - Electricians
Electricians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. Their role is critical in keeping plant operations safe and powered at all times. - Fitters & Turners
Fitters & Turners focus on assembling, fitting, and machining components. They ensure machinery and mechanical systems operate precisely, making them vital for production reliability. - Diesel Mechanics
Diesel Mechanics diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines used in trucks, generators, and heavy machinery. This trade ensures the smooth running of transport and industrial equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
As part of the PG Bison Apprenticeship Programme, your responsibilities will include:
- Completing all required FP&M Seta theoretical modules for your chosen trade.
- Recording workplace experiences using logbooks or assessment tools provided by PG Bison and/or training providers.
- Attending study periods and theoretical learning sessions diligently.
- Taking part in intensive on-the-job training, including exposure to plant processes.
- Developing hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Supporting production processes to ensure efficiency, availability, and reliability.
- Conducting maintenance and installations under supervision.
- Signing an 18-month apprenticeship contract with PG Bison and the FP&M Seta.
