Role Overview
The Millwright Apprenticeship offers candidates the chance to learn from experienced professionals in the field of industrial maintenance and mechanical systems. Apprentices will gain exposure to installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery, while also developing essential technical and teamwork skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Apprentices will be expected to:
- Assist in installing, assembling, and dismantling machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, pumps, and gearboxes.
- Learn to interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manuals.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment under supervision.
- Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, and measuring tools.
- Lubricate and clean machinery as required.
- Maintain a safe and organised workspace.
- Participate in structured classroom and on-the-job training sessions.
- Follow strict safety and company policies at all times.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 / NQF 4 qualification.
- Previous exposure to construction, maintenance, or mechanical trades.
- Enrolment in or completion of a pre-apprenticeship programme.
- Strong interest in maintenance and mechanical systems.
- Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.
- Good attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
