SANCA Garden Route has announced a vacancy for a Social Worker in George. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to support individuals and families affected by substance use disorders through professional intervention, community-based services, and long-term care solutions.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Work and registration with the SACSSP.
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience as a Social Worker.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• A valid driver’s licence with proven driving experience.
• Knowledge of or exposure to substance use disorders.
• Fluency in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape. Please note: services will mostly be rendered to Afrikaans-speaking service users.

• Effective planning, administration, and community development.
• Good interpersonal relationships and the ability to thrive under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

The appointed Social Worker will play a vital role in community support and recovery. Responsibilities include:

• Providing community-based treatment and aftercare services to people living with substance use disorders.
• Facilitating individual, group, and family interventions.
• Developing and implementing IDPs (Individual Development Plans).
• Applying evidence-based treatment models.
• Conducting comprehensive assessments and managing related administration.
• Building and maintaining relationships with other community role players.
