The Apprentice Teacher Role

Apprentice Teachers play a vital role in supporting instruction and classroom management while learning from experienced Resident Teachers. This role is designed to help aspiring educators grow into impactful classroom leaders through feedback, coaching, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Resident Teachers in delivering engaging, enquiry-based lessons.
  • Inspire a joy for learning and encourage academic excellence among students.
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners and set ambitious goals.
  • Use assessment data to adapt instructional methods and content.
  • Participate in weekly feedback sessions and professional development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Contribute to co-curricular activities and school events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in committees and supervision duties.

Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for the 2026 Apprentice Teacher positions, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Education (3rd or 4th year in 2026) or a Bachelor’s degree with PGCE.
  • Not yet a qualified teacher by the start of 2026.
  • Foundation Phase specialisation.
  • Provisional SACE registration.
  • Knowledge of English and Mathematics curricula (experience with Singapore Maths or THRASS is advantageous but not required).
  • Familiarity with Cambridge curriculum objectives is an added benefit.
