The Gauteng Department of Health has announced an exciting opportunity for a Material Recording Clerk within its Data Directorate. This permanent role, based at the Medical Supplies Depot, offers a package of R325 101 per annum (Level 7) plus benefits. The position comes with significant responsibilities and a chance to contribute directly to efficient healthcare service delivery across the province.
Key Requirements of the Material Recording Clerk
Applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate along with a recognised three-year Degree or Diploma (NQF Level 6/7) in one of the following fields:
- Supply Chain Management
- Commerce
- Public Management
In addition, candidates should have at least two years of experience in Supply Chain Management and Drug Supply Management.
Strong knowledge of South Africa’s public service legislative framework is essential, including:
- Batho Pele principles
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- Treasury Regulations
- Financial Policies and Procedures
Applicants must also demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, problem-solving and time-management skills. Experience with Drug Supply Management, warehousing, or distribution will be considered an advantage, as will knowledge of MEDSAS and RDM systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department. Duties include:
- Supervising all DATA functions and ensuring compliance with SOPs and policies.
- Managing the collection, processing, and reporting of critical DATA and internal orders.
- Implementing compliance with the Gauteng Medical Supplies Depot procedures.
- Receiving and processing Green Cards from healthcare facilities and loading them into MEDSAS.
- Facilitating accurate order transfers through RDM.
- Ensuring timely printing, sorting, and distribution of invoices for pharmaceutical stock dispatch.
- Handling enquiries, compiling statistics, and preparing reports.
- Training, evaluating, and supporting staff.
- Overseeing budget management for the cost centre.
