Siyathemba Local Municipality is offering a Learnership opportunity for suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Learner Technician – Electrical Services Specialist within the municipality’s Electrical Division. Key Details of the Learnership

The municipality is offering four learnership positions that will allow successful candidates to gain valuable hands-on experience while working towards obtaining the Government Certificate of Competency. Preferred Requirements

To qualify for the learnership, candidates must meet the following educational requirement:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering, which qualifies applicants to pursue the Government Certificate of Competency.

Responsibilities of the Learner Technician

Throughout the learnership, successful candidates will assist with a range of technical tasks under the guidance of senior staff members. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the implementation of operational guidelines and policies: Learners will assist in carrying out operational procedures within the Electrical Department.
  • Gaining exposure to relevant legislation: Participants will be introduced to essential legislation affecting electrical services, including the Health and Safety Act, Wiring Regulations, Labour Act, and Municipal Bylaws.
  • Participating in planning, reporting, and quality control: Learners will play an active role in the planning, reporting, and quality control processes related to electrical projects and maintenance work.
  • Assisting in feasibility studies and inspections: Learners will support technical analysis, inspections, and monitoring of municipal electrical infrastructure.
  • Supporting customer awareness programmes: The position also involves engaging in customer awareness initiatives and satisfaction surveys.
  • Accompanying operational staff for hands-on learning: Participants will work alongside operational staff to gain technical knowledge and maintain proper records of their activities.
