About the Role
The Engineer in Training position is part of Amentum South Africa’s Graduate Development Programme. The role is designed to prepare graduates for professional registration in engineering or project management, while providing practical exposure to large-scale projects.
The successful candidate will work from Amentum’s Melkbosstrand office, supporting electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation projects, particularly in the nuclear sector at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves a balance of technical learning and hands-on project exposure. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with engineering design tasks and calculations
- Conducting research and preparing technical reports
- Supporting site supervision and subcontractor management
- Preparing meeting minutes, technical queries, and procurement support
- Updating drawings and monitoring equipment
- Managing quality control and document tracking
- Participating in health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) programmes
This role requires teamwork, problem-solving, and consistent communication with all stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must hold a BSc or BEng degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Instrumentation and Control

- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the latest engineering software
