The Baxter Theatre Centre in Cape Town has announced openings for fifteen (15) bartenders on an ad-hoc basis, commencing 21 October 2025. Successful candidates will join the Baxter Bar team and provide high-quality bar and barista services to theatre patrons.
Job Overview
This opportunity offers flexible ad-hoc employment within one of Cape Town’s leading cultural venues. Bartenders will be responsible for delivering efficient customer service, preparing beverages, and maintaining the highest operational standards.
The salary range for these positions is between R3 000 and R6 000, depending on shifts and hours worked.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- A matric certificate or equivalent (NQF4 level).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Fluency in English and at least one other official South African language.
- Ability to work under pressure, both in teams and independently.
- Alertness and the ability to respond quickly in emergencies.
- A strong sense of customer service.
- Experience with electronic point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Advantageous
- Three to five years of hospitality sector experience in food and beverages.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service to patrons and staff.
- Control and account for stock.
- Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Process orders and sales using the POS system.
- Assist with maintaining, cleaning, and setting up bar equipment.
- Adhere to the Liquor Act of the Western Cape.
- Reconcile day-end sales and cash transactions.
- Uphold the Baxter Theatre Bar’s code of conduct.
- Assist with parking duties when required.
