What Sun International wants from you
Education:
- Grade 12 preferred.
- But if you don’t have Grade 12, Grade 10 with relevant experience may be considered.
Experience:
- At least 2 years experience working as a bartender.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Must know about drinks and cocktails (how to mix, what ingredients etc.).
- Good communication skills: listening to guests, asking questions, understanding what they want.
- Ability to do cashier work (billing, handling money).
- Basic computer skills.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Teamwork: work well with others.
- Upselling skills: being able to suggest better or extra items.
- Physical & work condition: able to work shifts, including busy times; able to move equipment; sometimes working in different outlets/halls if needed.
What you will do
As a Bartender, your job includes:
- Preparing your bar work area before service. This means checking tools, getting all stock and equipment ready, making sure everything is clean.
- Keeping the bar area stocked up and clean throughout.
- Taking guest drink orders, as well as helping with food if needed. Explaining what drinks are on the menu. Recommending drinks.
- Mixing / preparing the drinks the guests ordered. Presenting them nicely.
- Clearing glasses when guests finish. Making sure the service station is neat.
- Handling billing (giving guests their bill) and doing the cash‑ups at end of shift.
- Recording beverage stock every shift and helping with stock takes.
- Upselling promos: if there are special drinks or offers, suggesting them to guests.
- Following all the rules: health, safety, hygiene. Looking after equipment. Reporting breakages.
- Engaging with guests: greeting them warmly, being friendly, handling complaints or suggestions properly, escalating if needed.
