Key Responsibilities

• Passenger Transport: Transport passengers safely to and from their destinations within the City. Bus drivers are expected to maintain a high standard of customer service and ensure the safety and comfort of passengers at all times.
• Automated Fare Collection (AFC): Drivers will be responsible for the management of the AFC system on board, ensuring passengers tap in and tap out as per instructions. This system helps track ridership and contributes to operational efficiency.
• Route Management: Following the designated routes as outlined in the bus schedule or as directed by supervisors. Drivers are expected to be punctual, reliable, and adhere to the prescribed timings.
• Compliance with Traffic Laws: Bus drivers must follow the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996), as well as other local traffic laws. This includes maintaining safe driving habits and ensuring the bus is operated in a manner that adheres to the highest safety standards.
• Special Duty Functions: From time to time, bus drivers may be required to perform special duties, such as operating during peak times, handling emergencies, or driving additional routes as instructed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Educational Requirements: A minimum of Grade 10 or equivalent.
