Key Responsibilities

As a Bus Driver at Unitrans, your job duties will include:

1. Passenger Safety & Comfort
   • Ensuring that passengers are safely transported to their destination, adhering to the prescribed route and scheduled timings.
   • Managing the bus’s lighting, heating, and ventilation to ensure passenger comfort.
2. Safety Compliance
   • Following all traffic laws and regulations while ensuring the safety of both passengers and other road users.
   • Applying defensive and preventive driving techniques to avoid accidents.
   • Reporting any incidents or near-misses to management, even if you were not directly involved.
3. Vehicle Maintenance & Reporting
   • Inspecting the bus for any defects or malfunctions before starting a journey.
   • Reporting any defects or issues to the supervisor and logging them properly in the vehicle checklist.
   • Ensuring the vehicle is kept clean, well-maintained, and adequately refueled.
4. Adherence to Company Policies
   • Following Unitrans’ safety regulations and code of conduct, ensuring that all written procedures are understood and adhered to.
   • Completing logbooks accurately and maintaining up-to-date records of activities and hours worked.
   • Respecting authorized stops and routes, and refraining from making unsanctioned deviations.
5. Passenger Management
   • Ensuring proper registration of passengers before departure and maintaining a positive attitude toward customers.
   • Ensuring that all passengers have safely boarded before the bus is in motion.
6. Reporting Incidents & Accidents
   • Immediately reporting accidents, incidents, or any other safety-related events to management and supervisors.
   • Cooperating in any required safety or incident investigation processes.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Bus Driver position at Unitrans, you will need to meet the following criteria:

• Education:
  • A minimum of Grade 12 (National Certificate) or equivalent.
• Experience:
  • At least 5 years of proven experience as a bus driver or in a similar position.
• License Requirements:
  • A valid Public Service Driving License (PG).
  • Must hold the appropriate driver’s license categories, including CE – G, CE – PG, and C – G.
• Skills & Competencies:
