Key Responsibilities
As a Shop Assistant / Cashier, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding service to customers, ensuring operational activities are carried out smoothly, and contributing to the efficient running of the store. Your role will involve the following key responsibilities:
- Customer Service Excellence: Provide superior service to customers, ensuring they feel valued and have a positive in-store experience.
- Efficient Point of Sale Operations: Accurately scan merchandise, process payments, and handle cash responsibly. Promote Clicks’ clubcard and enroll new members to meet clubcard participation targets.
- Promotions Awareness: Inform customers about ongoing promotions to increase sales and contribute to Clicks’ goal of providing excellent value with the “feel good, pay less” promise.
- Merchandising and Housekeeping: Maintain the store’s visual merchandising standards, ensuring all products are displayed according to Clicks’ guidelines.
- Product Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on Clicks’ products, ranges, promotions, and events to offer informed advice to customers.
Skills and Competencies
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a range of skills and qualities that align with Clicks’ high standards of service:
- Knowledge:
- Basic mathematics for accurate transactions.
- Understanding of retail/FMCG operations and promotions.
- Strong knowledge of customer service principles.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong numeracy and computer literacy.
- Ability to problem-solve and handle various customer inquiries.
- Competencies:
- Essential: Ability to relate and network with others, follow instructions and procedures, and deliver results while meeting customer expectations.
- Desirable: Ability to work effectively with others, influence and persuade customers, and manage pressure and setbacks.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: Experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG environment is preferred.
- Education:
- Essential: Grade 12.
- Desirable: A minimum of 50% in Maths and English at Grade 12 level.
