CIPC Graduate Internship Opportunities

The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), an entity of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic), has opened applications for its 24-month Graduate Internship Programme. The opportunities are based at the organisation’s Sunnyside offices in Pretoria and are designed to equip young professionals with valuable workplace experience.

Purpose of the Internship Programme

The initiative forms part of government’s youth empowerment strategy introduced in 2002 to address graduate unemployment. The programme gives graduates the chance to apply their academic knowledge, gain exposure to the working world, and build professional readiness for future careers.

Internships are aimed at South African graduates who have completed their qualifications but have not yet entered the job market.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Hold a completed diploma or bachelor’s degree in office administration or a related field.
  • Have no previous work experience.
  • Have not previously participated in any internship programme.

Stipend and Contract Duration

Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R12,000 for the duration of the placement. The contract runs for 24 months, providing sustained on-the-job learning and development.

Application Requirements

Applicants must upload the following when submitting their application online:

  • An updated CV.
  • Academic transcript for the relevant qualification.

No emailed, faxed, posted, or hand-delivered applications will be accepted.

Selection and Employment Considerations

Shortlisted applicants will be subject to:

  • Qualification verification.
  • South African citizenship checks.
  • Interviews at a time and venue determined by CIPC.

The organisation follows an employment equity approach and may prioritise candidates who support its transformation goals. Feedback will only be provided to shortlisted applicants.

CIPC reserves the right not to fill the position.
