Job Purpose

The role of Shop Assistant / Cashier is to deliver service excellence, ensure accuracy at the point of sale, and support store merchandising activities. Employees are expected to provide friendly, professional assistance to customers while maintaining operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately scan and process purchases at the till.
• Handle cash safely and securely.
• Promote and enrol customers in the Clicks ClubCard programme.
• Inform customers about ongoing promotions.
• Maintain store housekeeping and merchandising standards.
• Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
• Keep up to date with product ranges, promotions, and events.

Skills and Competencies

Essential skills:

• Strong customer orientation
• Good communication
• Numeracy and basic computer literacy
• Planning and organising abilities

Competencies include:

• Delivering results and meeting expectations
• Following instructions and procedures
• Relating and networking

Desirable:

• Retail or FMCG experience
• Problem-solving ability
• Ability to work under pressure

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 (with Maths and English at 50% considered an advantage)
• Experience: Retail or customer-facing role preferred
