Data Capturer Job Vacancies

The Health Systems Trust (HST) is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for 35 Data Capturer positions within its Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Unit. These roles form part of the National Department of Health Global Fund Tuberculosis (TB) Project in the eThekwini district.

Purpose of the Position

The appointed Data Capturers will assist with the capturing, verification and reporting of data at supported health facilities and community level, focusing specifically on tuberculosis (TB) data. They will ensure that all information remains accurate, up to date and aligned with the project’s reporting requirements.

Candidates will also be responsible for identifying and reporting any linkage referrals to facility staff, while assisting in tracking and tracing patients as part of the TB programme.

This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable based on the continuation of project funding. Applicants who have previously applied for this position need not reapply.

Key Responsibilities

Build and Maintain Relationships

  • Capture, record and report on all data collected from TB screening activities in communities and facilities.
  • Generate daily, weekly and monthly reports for monitoring and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and project managers to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Work closely with Department of Health staff to obtain relevant information and ensure effective data management.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Verify and collect data daily, weekly and monthly to maintain quality standards.
  • Conduct data clean-up as required and ensure proper filing and administrative control.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required to support the monitoring and evaluation process.

Reporting

  • Submit weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports accurately and on time.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • A Matric certificate (Grade 12) is required.
  • A tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
  • Training on TIER.Net software or prior experience using it is essential.

Experience

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in data capturing (Tier.Net and DHIS) and reporting.
  • Experience in recording and reporting TB and HIV data.
  • Knowledge of health M&E systems and donor-funded environments will be advantageous.

Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Decision-making ability and customer focus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships.
  • Basic knowledge of English and local languages.
  • Effective data management and results-driven approach.

Remuneration

The salary package for this position is based on Global Fund requirements, ranging from R222,703 to R279,385.67 as the Total Cost to Company (TCTC).
