Bursary Opportunities
The bursary covers two critical fields of study:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agricultural Engineering/Bio-Resource Engineering
- Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) in Veterinary Technology

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this bursary, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- South African Citizenship: The applicant must be a South African citizen.
- Academic Background: Applicants must have completed Grade 12 or be currently studying towards a Grade 12/NCV qualification, with specific subject requirements:
- For Agricultural Engineering or Bio-Resource Engineering: Mathematics and Physical Science.
- For Veterinary Technology: Life Science, Physical Science, and Mathematics.
- Financial Need: The bursary is aimed at students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Eligible applicants must demonstrate that their combined household income is:
- R350,000 or less for general applicants.
- R600,000 or less for applicants with disabilities.
- Proof of Admission: Applicants must submit proof of admission or provisional admission to a registered Higher Education Institution for the relevant course.
- Geographical Preference: Preference will be given to applicants from the Eastern Cape and historically disadvantaged groups.
- Work Commitment: Successful applicants will be required to work for the Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture for a period equivalent to their funded study time.
Supporting Documents
Applicants must provide the following documents to complete their applications:
- Proof of South African citizenship.
- A recent proof of residence from a local municipality (less than 3 months old).
- Proof of family income and an affidavit on family financial status.
- Proof of registration or provisional registration from a Higher Education Institution.
- Identity documents of the applicant’s parent(s) or guardian(s).
- Evidence of any other sponsorships (if applicable).
