Duties and Responsibilities

The role is mainly about driving safely and supporting daily operations in Facilities Management. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  1. Transporting staff and work teams to different locations for Departmental activities.
  2. Delivering and collecting documents, materials, and equipment safely and on time.
  3. Daily vehicle checks to detect and repair minor issues:
    • Check oil, water, fuel, tyres, and overall condition.
    • Report faults timeously and arrange repairs when needed.
  4. Record-keeping:
    • Complete the vehicle logbook accurately after each trip.
    • Get trip authorisation and follow official routes and instructions.
  5. Following manuals:
    • Read and interpret operating and maintenance manuals and service charts to keep the vehicle in good working order.

This job is perfect for someone who is reliable, punctual, careful on the road, and takes pride in keeping a vehicle in excellent condition.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, you need:

  • Schooling: Grade 10 certificate or equivalent (NQF Level 3).
  • Driver’s Licence: A valid driver’s licence (keep a clear copy ready).
  • Experience: 5 years’ driving experience (you can show this on your CV with dates, employers, or references).

Generic Competencies (Soft Skills)

  • Communication: Able to read, write, and follow instructions clearly.
  • Good eyesight (vital for defensive driving and safety).
  • Teamwork: Friendly and helpful with colleagues and clients.

Technical Competencies (Practical Skills)

  • Operate vehicles safely and with care.
  • Do physical inspections of the vehicle daily.
  • Read and follow manuals (operating, maintenance, service charts).
  • Accurate record-keeping (logbooks, trip authorisations).
