EPWP cleaning and maintenance jobs Edenville

The Fezile Dabi District Municipality has opened its doors to unemployed South African citizens through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). A total of 30 fixed-term positions are now available across two vital local government projects in Edenville under the Ngwathe Local Municipality.

This is an opportunity aimed at empowering communities, promoting skills development, and alleviating poverty through temporary but meaningful employment.

1. EPWP Green 3: Maintenance and Cleaning Around Government Buildings (11 Positions)

Under the Environmental Health and Emergency Services Department, the municipality is looking to appoint 11 participants for routine maintenance and cleaning around government buildings. The project will be executed in Edenville and Ngwathe Township.

Key Requirements

  • South African citizen, 18 years or older, with a valid barcoded ID
  • Must reside permanently in the Ngwathe Local Municipality (Edenville preferred)
  • Must be physically fit and able to work as part of a team
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Willingness to sign a 10-month Fixed-Term Contract
  • Proof of residence required (affidavit or municipal letter)
  • Applicants must arrange their own transport

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain public government buildings
  • Support team leaders with general labour

2. EPWP Blue 5: Cleaning of Culverts and Storm Water Canals (19 Positions)

The Infrastructure Unit under the Department of LED, Tourism and Infrastructure is seeking 19 individuals for the cleaning and maintenance of storm water canals and culverts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and clean storm water drainage systems
  • Assist with training and workshops
  • Conduct inventory checks of tools and resources

  • Edenville, Ngwathe Local Municipality

Salary and Contract Duration

Both roles fall under EPWP Ministerial Determination salary guidelines, and are contracted for 10 months, offering temporary income while gaining valuable work experience.
