Role Purpose
As a General Assistant at Bidvest Facilities Management, you will be tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of various maintenance activities on the Zola campus. Your role will support general groundskeeping, exterior building maintenance, and various safety checks and inspections. You will play a key role in maintaining the facilities to meet company standards and local regulations.
Main Responsibilities
General Groundskeeping & Outside Maintenance:
- Cleaning and Environmental Maintenance: Regular cleaning and upkeep of grounds and exterior spaces.
- Stormwater System: Flash and clean stormwater drains according to the scheduled routine. Perform necessary readings and checks for stormwater drains.
Wastewater Treatment Plant:
- Participate in daily inspections and servicing of vital systems, ensuring critical services are maintained with the assistance of the Groundsman. Address spillage and overflow issues immediately.
Parking Level Maintenance:
- Trash Bin Maintenance: Maintain and replace trash bins in parking levels. Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of these areas.
- Entry/Exit Points: Ensure the repair and maintenance of doors and doorways. Check and replace light bulbs and tubes as needed.
- Fire Extinguishers & EV Chargers: Monitor fire extinguishers for proper inspection dates, and ensure the safety and functionality of EV chargers.
Exterior Building Face:
- Louvers and Security Lights: Regularly clean and maintain exterior louvers. Inspect and report faulty security light points to the electrical team.
Monthly Checks & Inspections:
- Perform monthly checks on wet systems across the campus to ensure their functionality. Report any safety hazards and ensure compliance with local and South African standards.
Pest Control & Bird Management:
- Assist service providers with pest control by escorting them and ensuring access to necessary equipment. Help in managing the ingress of pests through drainage systems and small entry points.
- Bird Control Systems: Monitor and maintain bird control systems, ensuring the environment remains clean by removing bird droppings from possible purchasing areas.
General Support:
- Perform necessary cleaning tasks in areas such as crawl spaces and drainage systems.
- Act as a general escort for overflow duties related to wet services.
