Salary and Qualifications
The salary scale for the General Worker positions ranges between R126,036 – R145,236 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum qualification: ABET Level 2.
- A minimum of 1 month experience in relevant tasks is required.
Core Responsibilities
General Labouring Tasks
The role involves a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Plumbing Supervisor. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with plumbing tasks: Workers will assist in plumbing maintenance, preparing the worksite, measuring areas, and laying or installing plumbing systems.
- Handling materials: Moving materials like concrete, mortar, and other tools using manual labor and hand tools (e.g., spades, picks, etc.).
- Supporting road maintenance: Workers will be involved in roadwork and road-marking tasks, including digging trenches and potholes, and clearing debris from work areas.
- Transporting materials and equipment: Employees will assist with safely loading, unloading, and guiding materials, ensuring tools and equipment are handled with care and in a safe manner during transport.
- Ensuring safety: Workers will follow strict safety protocols, including securing and fastening tools and materials, preparing work sites, and ensuring equipment is properly stored when not in use.
Tool and Equipment Care
Employees are responsible for maintaining their work tools and ensuring proper storage of equipment. Tasks include:
- Cleaning and storing equipment: Removing debris from tools, washing equipment, and properly storing tools to prevent damage.
- Loading and unloading: Safely loading materials and equipment, ensuring tools are handled with care during transport.
Communication
Clear and effective communication is essential for this role. Workers will be required to report and relay information regarding work progress, challenges, or safety concerns to their supervisor. This includes reporting issues such as:
- Problems with equipment or tools.
- Challenges in executing assigned tasks.
- The status of ongoing tasks and the need for additional materials.
