Internship Overview:
St Mary’s is committed to shaping the future educators of tomorrow. As part of this mission, the school is offering two exciting internship positions for 2026, designed for candidates who are studying towards their Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). This internship will provide invaluable experience in teaching, classroom management, and extracurricular activities.
Internship Responsibilities
Interns will play an integral role in the daily operations of the High School phase, contributing to both academic and extracurricular activities. The roles include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in classroom activities and supporting teachers with lesson delivery.
- Providing academic support to students in various subjects.
- Participating in at least two extracurricular activities per week, helping students in sports, cultural events, or other school-related activities.
- Living and working in the Boarding Establishment, supporting students in a residential setting.
- Engaging in mentorship and coaching to further develop teaching skills and competencies.
- Embracing a Christian ethos in all aspects of school life, fostering a positive and supportive environment for students.
Candidate Requirements
To be eligible for the internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in a PGCE programme in 2026.
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, honesty, and alignment with the school’s Christian values.
- Be flexible and willing to assist in all areas of school life, including extra-mural activities.
- Be comfortable working in an inclusive environment, ensuring equal participation for all students.
- Have a high level of competency in IT-integrated teaching and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Be prepared to work and live within the school’s boarding establishment.
