As part of its dynamic growth, HYDE Johannesburg is offering an exciting opportunity for a Finance Intern to join its finance team. This role provides hands-on exposure to hospitality finance within a fast-paced luxury environment.
Finance Responsibilities
The Finance Intern will play a key role in supporting daily operations and financial processes. Core responsibilities include:
- Daily Revenue Reconciliation: Assisting with reconciling hotel revenue across departments including Front Office, Proud Mary, and Workshop17.
- Accounts Payable Support: Processing vendor invoices, verifying purchase orders, and preparing payment batches.
- Accounts Receivable Monitoring: Tracking guest and corporate accounts, updating AR aging reports, and following up on outstanding balances under supervision.
- Bank & Cash Reconciliation: Supporting the reconciliation of bank statements, cash deposits, and credit card transactions.
- Month-End Closing: Assisting with document collection, file organisation, and ledger updates.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Compiling data for budgets and forecasts with variance analysis.
- Inventory & Cost Control: Monitoring housekeeping inventory and contributing to cost analysis.
- Systems Training: Gaining practical experience with hotel accounting tools such as OPERA and SAGE 300.
General Duties
The internship will also provide exposure to essential accounting functions:
- Supporting invoice processing, debtors’ collection, and reconciliations.
- Preparing vendor payments and monitoring incoming transactions.
- Assisting in cash flow reporting and performance analysis.
- Supporting departmental budgets and actual vs. forecast comparisons.
- Participating in inventory counts and operational cost reviews.
- Collaborating with Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage teams for financial data gathering.
Guest Experience Focus
