Key Responsibilities
As an ICT Support Officer, you’ll play a vital role in keeping the campus technology running smoothly. Your daily tasks will include a mix of technical, administrative, and support duties.
1. Desktop and User Support
- Provide first-line IT support to staff, students, and lecturers.
- Log and track technical support requests using the service desk system.
- Prioritise and resolve routine incidents and escalate complex issues to the Senior ICT Support team.
- Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems.
2. Hardware and Software Setup
- Install and configure desktop and laptop computers with authorised software.
- Set up peripheral devices such as monitors, printers, and disk drives.
- Support technology use in classrooms, labs, and event venues.
- Conduct regular testing of ICT and audio-visual equipment to ensure smooth operation.
3. Administrative and Maintenance Duties
- Manage the ICT asset register and maintain the equipment tracker.
- Liaise with service providers for equipment maintenance and procurement.
- Keep the server and storeroom neat, organised, and compliant with safety standards.
- Train staff on basic hardware and software usage.
- Ensure compliance with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) requirements.
Skills and Competencies
To succeed in this role, you’ll need both technical and interpersonal strengths. The ideal candidate should have:

Minimum Requirements
Education:
- A Higher Certificate or Occupational Certificate (NQF Level 5) in A+/N+ is required.
- An Advanced Certificate or Diploma (NQF Level 6) in CCNA1, MCSE, or MCTIP will be advantageous.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of relevant ICT experience.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid driver’s licence (especially if public transport access is limited).
- Willingness to work shifts and attend events such as Open Days and Career Days.
