Core Group, the official distributor of Apple products in Southern Africa, is offering a unique opportunity for recent graduates to begin their career journey at the iStore Head Office in Sandton. The role of Graduate Buyer is designed for ambitious BCom graduates eager to grow in the fast-paced consumer electronics industry.

Purpose of the Role

The Graduate Buyer position is an entry-level learning role created for individuals with a strong analytical mindset, a passion for technology, and advanced Excel skills. This opportunity provides structured exposure to supplier negotiations, product lifecycle management, and market trend analysis, equipping graduates with the skills needed to progress into a full Buyer role.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the Buying team with tasks that include:

  • Analysing sales data, stock levels, and technology trends to inform buying decisions.
  • Maintaining up-to-date product information, pricing, and supplier details on internal systems.
  • Preparing detailed reports and dashboards in Excel to support decision-making.
  • Monitoring competitor activity and identifying emerging market trends.
  • Assisting with supplier negotiations, order placements, and delivery tracking.
  • Collaborating with marketing, planning, and logistics teams to ensure seamless product rollouts.
  • Supporting product range reviews and preparing presentations.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, pricing strategies, and quality standards.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field. The role is best suited to individuals who have:

  • Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modelling).
  • A keen interest in technology, gadgets, and consumer electronics.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
  • A genuine eagerness to learn and develop in a Buying function.
