Job Description
Sun International is looking for a dynamic and driven individual to fill the Lifeguard position at their Wild Coast Sun location, situated in Port Edward. This permanent position offers the chance to contribute to the safety of the facility while working within a professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventing accidents, performing rescues, administering first aid, and educating guests on safety protocols. The role involves undergoing Waterpark training to meet company standards and ensuring that the environment remains safe for both guests and staff.
Responsibilities
Your main duties will include:
- Rescue and Emergency Care: Responding quickly to emergency situations, administering first aid, and applying CPR as required. Ensuring all actions align with national safety standards and company protocols.
- Facility and Activity Control: Monitoring high-risk areas, removing potential hazards, and controlling facilities according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Ensuring the safety of all guests and managing activities within the safety guidelines.
- Injury Prevention: Proactively identifying and removing risks to prevent injuries. Ensuring compliance with safety rules and educating guests about safety measures.
- Guest Service: Engaging with guests professionally, maintaining proper grooming and dress codes, and following the SOP for guest interaction. Providing excellent service and creating a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
Requirements
To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Requirements: A Matric/Grade 12 qualification or Grade 11 with a Lifeguard Award (NQF 4) is essential.
- Certifications: Current and up-to-date Lifeguard certification (LGA surf, LGA pool) is mandatory, with annual re-tests required to maintain certification.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a lifeguard or in a medical field (e.g., EMS, paramedics) is essential. Experience in the service industry is also advantageous.
- Competencies: The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to work in a team, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards. Physical ability and fitness are key, along with a passion for helping others and ensuring a safe environment.
