Maintenance Operator Overview

The Maintenance Operator Gr 1 Mechanical will support the maintenance of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and equipment. The role also involves operating mechanical devices, collecting accurate field data, and contributing to optimal plant productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and support artisans in carrying out tasks safely and effectively.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in all working areas.
  • Ensure tools are safely stored and correctly handled.
  • Prepare and arrange the necessary tools for tasks as instructed.
  • Assist with the installation and removal of machine components.
  • Identify and apply correct oils and lubricants during services.
  • Safely operate workshop equipment and hand tools.
  • Deliver and collect samples when required.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Occupational Trade Qualification/Certificate.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years in a relevant role.

Skills and Competencies

  • Communicates effectively.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Sound decision-making and accountability.
  • Proficiency in equipment utilisation and engineering implementation.
  • Problem-solving with the ability to analyse and recommend solutions.
