What Does the Technical Internship Involve?
The internship programme offers successful candidates a hands-on learning experience, allowing them to gain practical skills by directly assisting the operations team. Interns will be involved in various essential technical activities including servicing, repairing, fault-finding, testing, and reporting on electronic and electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Servicing, Repairing, and Testing:
- Assisting with logging equipment repairs onto job cards through the Workshop Service/Repair Module.
- Testing electronic and electrical equipment for basic faults under supervision.
- Observing and supporting senior technicians in identifying faulty components.
- Documenting and communicating basic fault-finding outcomes clearly to supervisors.
- Carrying out minor repair tasks or support duties assigned by supervisors.
Quality Control:
- Helping ensure all equipment is clean, safely stored, and adheres strictly to service and safety standards.
Reporting:
- Assisting in accurately completing Missing and Damage Reports (M&Ds).
- Tracking equipment status, specifically items entering or leaving repair status (referred to internally as “Hospital”).
Inventory Management:
- Contributing to precise inventory counts and stocktaking activities, helping maintain accurate records and efficient inventory management.
Building Team Relationships:
- Actively engaging with colleagues to maintain a stable working environment and effectively contribute to achieving team goals.

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:
- National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) – Essential
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Electronics (NQF Level 6) – Essential
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Intermediate proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Commitment to continuous learning and adaptability
- Excellent team participation and interpersonal skills
Additional Requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be under 35 years of age
- Candidates who have previously participated or are currently engaged in a SETA-funded internship programme are not eligible.
