Auckland Park Preparatory School, an esteemed independent preparatory school in Johannesburg, is seeking a Personal Assistant to the Headmistress.
This pivotal role will commence on 1 November 2025 (negotiable). The position requires a motivated, strategic, and energetic professional who will provide high-level administrative and organisational support to ensure the smooth running of the Headmistress’s office.
Personal Assistant Position Overview
The successful candidate will play a central role in supporting the leadership of a thriving preparatory school, serving as a vital link between the Headmistress and a wide range of stakeholders including parents, pupils, staff, and external educational partners. The role demands someone who thrives in a fast-paced academic setting, demonstrating both discretion and professionalism at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative and organisational support to the Headmistress.
- Manage diaries, schedules, travel arrangements, and logistics with accuracy and efficiency.
- Handle correspondence, screen information, and draft responses with sound judgement.
- Maintain accurate filing systems, records, and meeting minutes.
- Engage confidently with parents, pupils, and external partners.
- Support strategic planning processes and contribute to policy implementation.
- Demonstrate flexibility to attend school functions, meetings, or events in the evenings or at weekends when required.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and research abilities.
- High level of initiative, resilience, and adaptability.
- Professional discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of school management systems such as EdAdmin will be advantageous.
Educational Background and Experience
- A matriculation certificate (NQF Level 4) is the minimum requirement.
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field will be highly advantageous.
- At least 3–4 years of experience in executive support or school administration.
Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Headmistress of Auckland Park Preparatory School.
