Protective Services Officer Job Opportunity at Rand Water

Rand Water is seeking a skilled and dedicated Protective Services Officer to join their team in Johannesburg South. This permanent position offers the chance to contribute to ensuring the safety and security of Rand Water’s Central Depot and satellite pumping stations, operating in compliance with the National Key Point Act (Act No. 102 of 1980).

Key Responsibilities

As a Protective Services Officer, your primary role will be to protect Rand Water’s infrastructure, personnel, and assets by adhering to current legislation and company policies. You will be required to:

  • Provide quality protective services at the Central Depot Station and its satellite pumping stations.
  • Conduct regular patrols and guard duty, ensuring that all safety and security protocols are followed.
  • Maintain knowledge of critical legislation, including the National Key Point Act and other safety laws.
  • Handle firearms for business purposes, including rifles, handguns, and shotguns.
  • Respond effectively to any emergencies or security threats, acting swiftly and in line with established procedures.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • PSIRA Grade C certification.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Firearm competency for business purposes (rifles, handguns, and shotguns).
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar security environment.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the National Key Point Act (critical infrastructure protection).
  • Dog handling and tactical training will be an added advantage.
