Key Responsibilities
As an R&D Intern at RCL Foods, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the team with a variety of tasks, including product development, testing, and reporting. Specific duties include:
Product Development & Innovation
- Assist the R&D Technician/Manager in the development of new products based on the project brief.
- Screen all raw materials to ensure they are suitable for the application and/or manufacturing plant.
- Test alternative ingredients for potential cost or quality improvements.
- Conduct shelf life tests and produce detailed reports.
- Benchmark competitor products and assist with preparing for internal and external customer presentations.
- Help set up tasting sessions and contribute to the preparation process.
Quality Assessments
- Perform softness, texture, volume, and water activity tests as required.
- Assist in interpreting data collected from the quality assessment instruments.
- Ensure all tests are conducted with precision and results are documented.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain the sample register and product sample library.
- Record and archive all laboratory trial data.
- Keep accurate records of all recipe revisions during the product development process.
- Compile detailed test bakery reports.
- Complete reports on shelf life tests and ensure that all findings are properly documented.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) or BSc (Hons) in Food Science, or an equivalent qualification.
- National Diploma or BTech in Food Technology, or a similar qualification.
