SANRAL Internship Programme

SANRAL (South African National Roads Agency) is offering an exciting internship opportunity in the Design and Construction department. This position provides invaluable support to a centralized project team across multiple projects, with a focus on administrative services, project coordination, and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders. Interns will be stationed in various provincial offices, including Gauteng, Eastern Cape, and Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Internship Objective

The internship aims to develop and enhance skills in project administration, ensuring interns gain valuable exposure while contributing to SANRAL’s objectives. Interns will assist with day-to-day project-related activities, administrative support, and document management, all while receiving mentorship from experienced project managers and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will provide vital assistance in a variety of administrative and project support tasks, which include:

  • Administrative Support: Assist the engineering team with day-to-day administrative tasks, including drafting letters, agendas, and minutes from project meetings.
  • Document Management: Ensure timely compilation and uploading of documents to SANRAL’s document management system (EDMS), including consultant tender documents and project presentations.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend and participate in project meetings, taking minutes and ensuring accurate, timely reporting of key discussions and decisions.
  • Tender and SCM Support: Assist project managers with tender clarification presentations and communicate necessary technical corrections to the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team for inclusion in addenda.
  • Travel Arrangements: Help organize travel arrangements for local and international trips, including arranging visas, travel insurance, and memos.
  • Project Information and Audit Support: Ensure the availability of project information for both internal and external audits, maintaining a well-organized system for efficient access.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: National Diploma in Project Management and/or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience: No prior work experience required, making this the perfect opportunity for recent graduates to gain practical experience.
  • Location: Applicants must be based near SANRAL’s offices, which will be taken into consideration for placement. Available positions are located in the following offices:
    • Gauteng Provincial Office: 38 Ida Street, Menlo Park, Pretoria (3 positions)
    • Eastern Cape Provincial Office: 20 Shoreward Drive, Baywest, Port Elizabeth (1 position)
    • Eastern Cape Provincial Office: Ndwendwe Lodge, Flagstaff Office (1 position)
    • Kwa-Zulu Natal Provincial Office: 58 van Eck Place, Mkondeni, Pietermaritzburg (2 positions)
