SAPS Office of the National Commissioner Internships

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is inviting unemployed graduates to apply for internships under its Graduate Recruitment Scheme. This scheme, which spans twelve (12) months, aims to offer valuable experience to South African citizens, giving them the opportunity to contribute to SAPS’ operations while gaining professional skills that will benefit their careers. Key Requirements for Application

Before applying, candidates must meet a few generic criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Have completed the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent qualification (NCV L4).
  • Have no previous criminal convictions or pending criminal cases.
  • Be unemployed, with no prior experience in the advertised post or participation in a relevant internship programme.
  • Reside in the province where the post is advertised.
  • Applicants are allowed to apply for a maximum of three posts, completing a separate application for each.

Internship Categories

SAPS internships are divided into two categories:

  • Graduate Intern: Requires a tertiary qualification, with a statement of results attached.
  • Student Intern: Practical experience is required for learners to complete their qualification (letter from the institution, not older than two years, must be attached).
