The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) has opened applications for its 2025 Internship Programme, offering unemployed graduates an opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience. The programme is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is available to South African citizens under the age of 35.
With a stipend of R11,172.49 per month and a 24-month contract, the internships are designed to build practical skills and prepare graduates for meaningful roles in the public sector.
Internship Opportunities Available
1. Supply Chain Intern
Requirements: National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in Supply Chain, Logistics, Purchasing Management, or equivalent.
Duties include:
- Supporting contract management and compliance with PFMA, PPPFA, BBBEE, and SCM regulations.
- Assisting with tenders (RFQ, RFP, RFB) and purchase order processing.
- Managing contracts, invoices, and supply chain-related documentation.
- Providing support for external and internal stakeholder issues.
- Ensuring document management is aligned with ISO standards.
Skills and Competencies: Strong communication, organisational ability, attention to detail, proactive attitude, and proficiency in MS Office.
2. SD&T Project Support Intern
Requirements: National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in Built Environment or Business Management.
Duties include:
- Coordinating programme planning and stakeholder engagement.
- Preparing project applications and aligning work scope.
- Supporting grant submissions, debt funding, and quarterly reporting.
- Travelling within South Africa when necessary.
- Assisting with tenanting and project packaging for social housing.
Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication, understanding of social housing frameworks, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, and MS Office proficiency.
3. Legal Intern
Requirements: LLB Degree or equivalent with computer literacy.
Duties include:
- Assisting with litigation support and legal research.
- Drafting correspondence, contracts, and legal opinions.
- Reviewing and coordinating contract documentation.
- Overseeing compliance with SHRA litigation standards and deadlines.
- Supporting legal processes to improve litigation outcomes.
Skills and Competencies: Strong legal writing, research, integrity, planning, teamwork, environmental awareness, and MS Office proficiency.
