Job Overview

Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness across all store areas, including the shop floor, dispensary, stock room, admin office, and canteen. The role requires strict adherence to Dis-Chem’s hygienic standards, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for both staff and customers.

  • Location: Pinecrest (Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal) and Nelspruit (Mpumalanga)
  • Contract Type: Fixed-term (entry-level)
  • Division: CB Division (Pinecrest) and SV – MK Division (Nelspruit)
  • Industry: FMCG / Retail

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum six months of cleaning experience
  • Good command of the English language (written and oral)
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Ability to speak an additional local language is advantageous
  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours

Additional advantages include:

  • Being bilingual
  • Prior retail store cleaning experience

Key Responsibilities

Store Cleaners will be expected to:

  • Deliver daily cleaning routines across the store before opening hours.
  • Ensure canteens and restrooms are spotless and well-stocked at all times.
  • Respond promptly during operating hours to any cleaning requirements.
  • Use the correct cleaning products and equipment for each task.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, including using visible wet floor signs.
  • Provide friendly and professional assistance to customers when needed.

  • Attention to detail and high cleaning standards
  • Trustworthiness, honesty, and presentable appearance
  • Ability to take instructions and follow through
  • Strong time management skills
  • Customer service focus

Advantageous competencies:

  • Prior retail cleaning experience
